The King William Inn Catcott
The Vision: A Community facility, run by local people to benefit local people
In a vote at the end of a Public Meeting on 28 November 2025, attendees gave a virtually unanimous answer:
Do we want The King William to be a thriving Community Hub/Pub? YES!!!
You can download the presentation that had been made by the King William Working Group that evening, so you can see the results of its research.
A Management Committee will now be formed to move the plan forward, with much to do ahead of a proposed re-opening of The King William in May 2026.
What can you do to help?
The success of this initiative will rely on people from all around The Polden Hills contributing, in whatever way they can, to the next six months of effort to get the pub re-opened and then to support it once it's running.
You may want to wield a paintbrush, or do a little basic DIY. Perhaps do a shift behind the bar or help tend the garden! All of these things and more are essentials to making The King William the Community Hub/Pub that it can be.
And if you have specific business or hospitality skills and experience that you could bring to the Management Committee that is being set up to plan and carry out the process of getting the place open - and you would like to be part of that - that would be very valuable too!
You can email us at IWouldLikeToHelp@KingWilliamCatcott.org to volunteer to:
Join the Management Committee
Volunteer to help with preparation of the building for re-opening
Volunteer to support the Pub Managers once it has opened
Offer to contribute to the Working Capital needed to re-open
We'd love to hear from you! Please tell us how you would like to help and we will get back to you to arrange a chat.
Thank you!
